May 19th is Malcolm X’s birthday. As a freedom fighter for justice, and as a student and leader of liberation movements, Malcolm X was influential in the public debate about human rights and equal justice. Below are a few of his words:

“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”

“You can’t separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom.”

“Usually when people are sad, they don’t do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change.”

“I believe in human rights for everyone, and none of us is qualified to judge each other and that none of us should therefore have that authority.”

“Early in life I had learned that if you want something, you had better make some noise.”
