[ # ] Rest Peacefully, E. Lynn Harris

News just reached me that author E. Lynn Harris has died at the age of 54. What a sad and sudden end to the life of a gifted writer. His work fell into many genres, including African American and gay fiction, but he still struggled for the type of mainstream acceptance in film that would truly allow African Americans in the LBGT community to shake the stigma and discrimination they live with daily. Though his work did not always speak directly to me, it did to many of my friends, who continue to fight for their voices and experiences to be reflected in popular culture. Hopefully, his soul is resting. Rest peacefully, E. Lynn Harris.
