[ # ] Sarah Palin is Right…At Least This Time
November 17th, 2009 under Commentary

palin_shorts3Newsweek handed this one to her on a platter. By placing an out of context photo on the cover of their magazine, they stooped uncharacteristically low. Review her book! Analyze her readiness for national leadership! I don’t believe she’s the brightest and most talented political voice, but I certainly agree that a cover photo of her in short running shorts (a photo she claims was intended to promote fitness for another magazine) is incongruous and “sexist.” It might sell issues–and we’re all aware that “sex sells.” But I expect more…especially from Newsweek.

While I don’t think it’s cool that Newsweek used a photo like this for their cover, I think they’re trying to make a point. Which I interpret as asking why she would post with an American flag draped next to her for a FITNESS magazine? Not to mention isn’t that sort of a shoddy way to treat the flag – draped on a bar stool with her elbow leaning on it? Not that I’m a stickler for flag rules, but still.

This photo just screams staged and fake to me, which is what I get from her on the campaign trail, in interviews etc. Not the kind of person I want helping run this country.

Any shred of respect I had for her, which was already low, evaporated when she abandoned her office of governor. She’s money-grubbing at this point, pure and simple.
